PCU-ESD holds intramurals ’19

As part of its yearly event, the Philippine Christian University – Elementary School Department (PCU-ESD) celebrated the Sports Festival ’19 at the University’s Dasmariñas campus on Mar. 18-25, 2019.

Bannering the theme, “Chosen to Serve God through Sport,” the most awaited event of the year started with a parade featuring the Drum and Lyre Corps. The pupils and teachers showed up in their sports uniforms.

After the flag ceremony, Elementary School Department (ESD) principal Dr. Lenalee C. Borromeo greeted the pupils and reminded them to practice honesty and sportsmanship in all their games. Prof. Jordan Ramos, administrative officer of PCU Dasmariñas Campus, reiterated to the pupils and their parents that they need to be careful at all times and always enjoy the games. Pastor Janice Serafica, the University chaplain, prayed to ask God to bless all the pupils as they play and to always keep them safe. To add excitement, the Drum and Lyre Corps led by Sir Nixon Nobleza had their opening presentation. Soccer ace player Carlos Leland Toledo of VI-Philippians carried the torch, as the pack of athletes followed him.

The oath of sportsmanship was read by taekwondo player Fiona Papa of V- Chronicles. Then, each team was introduced by Mrs. Dorie Corpuz. The games started in the afternoon. The Grade 6 pupils, both boys, and girls, played basketball inside the new gymnasium. Grade 5 boys and girls had their volleyball games at the covered court while the Grade 4 pupils had their badminton at the multipurpose hall.

The children also engaged in indoor games like chess, dama, Chinese checker, “sungka,” scrabble and word factory. Other games and the championship games will happen on the remaining days of the sports fest.
