PCU Disaster Preparedness

Preparing for Disaster

A group of Senior High School (SHS) students calmly evacuate from the school building while placing their hands on their heads for protection.

The Dasmariñas Campus of the Philippine Christian University (PCU) in Cavite conducted an earthquake drill last February 21 in preparation for the “Big One.” The students were made to practice the “stop, drop, and hold” exercise to avoid, or at least minimize, harm and injuries when the anticipated major earthquake happens.

The drill is in line with the promotion of disaster preparedness through public participation as mandated under Rule 6, Section 7 of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act 10121 or the Philippine Disasters Risk Reduction and Management Act. (Photo and text by Jhun Dizon)
