The Reception hall of Philippine International Convention Center was graced with the presence of Senator Joel Villanueva, the honorary guest speaker of the 82nd Commencement Exercises last August 30, 2023.

Senator Joel gave three pieces of advice for the graduates. First is “Change is inevitable”, the world will continuously evolve and so will we. He stated that learning doesn’t end with a diploma, “We have to be equipped and make sure we empower ourselves for the future” he added. As technology advances into what may seem unimaginable before, we must go along with it and embrace the change. Second is “Change involves discomfort or pain”, as we embark on another unfamiliar journey after graduation, expect the feeling of discomfort, challenges and pain. There is no greater journey than a path with ups and downs. 

Last but not least, “Change can strengthen our christian values”, as we encounter uncertainties in our lives, it makes us stronger by clinging to our christian faith. Sen. Villanueva stresses that everything happens for a reason, who you are today, and where you are today is not an accident, “It is God who appointed us here today to listen to his words”. He also emphasizes gratitude towards people who supported the graduates, as the famous quote says “No man is an Island” our success is built not only by ourselves but also to the loved ones who gave an unending support, encouragement, and love that equipped them to finish their degrees. 

“There are two types of Filipinos in this world, the one who wants to be a part of the solution, and the one who is part of the problem” stating that we could contribute to the change of our nation. “If you want to be the agent of change, graduate. It is for you to decide.”
