Myiesha Uy: PCU’s Pride

Taekwondo jin Myiesha Marie Jerriana Uy of Grade VI-Judges of the Philippine Christian University –Elementary School Department (PCU-ESD) last Feb. 13 bagged the gold medal in her event in the Poomsae Competition of the Calabarzon Heroes Games. The sports event was held in Sta. Rosa Sports Complex in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

As the champion of Region IV-A, Myiesha will automatically represent the region in the coming Palarong Pambansa in Davao City.

Myiesha started training in taekwondo when she was in Grade 3. Since then, she has not stopped polishing her martial arts skills. Myiesha has already reached the level of being a Second Dan Black Belter.

She had competed in different local and international contests, particularly in Singapore and Malaysia, bringing home medals of recognition. Last year, she became the youngest representative of Region IV-A Calabarzon in Poomsae Competition.

After winning the divisional and regional competitions (and even the Batang Pinoy contest), she said she is ready to conquer the Palarong Pambansa, which will start on April 27 and will end on May 4, 2019.

Today, Myiesha continues to hone her skills together with other Taekwondo players of Rizal Province.

Dr. Lenalee Borromeo, ESD principal, admitted that the whole department is proud of the achievement of Myiesha.

“Go for the gold, Myiesha,” she said. “We’re behind you all the way. May God bless your performance.”   (Photo by Raquel Uy)
